Integrated test Cup

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

The basic requirement in any drug testing is that you have to devise the most appropriate method for the collection of samples. The method that is adopted must be an easily available one, convenient to use, have resistant to temperature and weather changes, must be free from external trauma to the specimens, must be able to transport without much significant loss of the constituents or the properties of the sample. One such potent sample storage container is the drug test cup which has an inbuilt testing apparatus.

The drug testing cups are disposable containers which are sterile and sealed. The use of polypropylene as the material for the container promises a reduction in the contamination of the samples and the handling exposures. The cup drug test has a label that bears the name and identification of the person whose sample is being collected.

The cup drug tests are an integrated test cup that is sealed from heat and are usually available with the urine temperature monitoring thermometers. It is essential to note that storing in these test cups is a very reliable way for testing alcohol, marijuana, hashish, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, opiates, nicotine, cocaine, caffeine, amphetamines, PCP, methadone, LSD, heroin, etc.

The reason for the requirement for such drug screen cups is that sometimes the metabolite may break down spontaneously or undergo other changes on long standing. Such changes tend to produce altered results which would result in serous consequences. The use of sterile containers ensures that the urine samples are not contaminated because of the containers. Further polypropylene material ensures that it does not react with the test urine.

The presence of the inbuilt testing strips eliminates the need for handling the samples which would otherwise have its own complications. The test cups can be 4, 5, 6 or 10 panel cups that helps to identify a combination of drugs. There are also several combinations of the drugs to be tested within the same number of panel cups. The integrated cup test is only a qualitative analysis which merely indicates the presence of the drug. The samples must be collected only after some time after the administration of the drug as it takes some time for the drug to get metabolized and appear in urine.

These tests are reliable, easy to use, and accurate and the results produced can be delivered in few minutes. These tests are approved by the FDA and conform to the guidelines laid by the SAMHSA or the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
